
Stock 3D: Can It Overtake Stock Photography?
Stock images have changed the way advertisement agencies and companies go about finding material for their adverts. With everything right there on the Internet, and in such great quantity, companies have realized there is little need to hire their own photographers and designers to meet their needs. But, even though photography is such a staple in this industry, stock 3D is also making a rise in the market. With technology changing, as well as aesthetic desires diversifying beyond traditional photos, digital imagery is becoming more and more prolific and used. Stock 3D is doing just that, but some may say that it can even have a closer, more relevant subject matter to an even wider consumer and commercial base. Just like stock photography, these are simply and purely digital images, including any and all aspects of graphic design. But many think there is an edge to computer images that photos don’t have. They are able to be somewhat manipulated to form to the company’s needs even more specifically. Furthermore, each image has no other permission problems other than the image itself, such as permission from the subjects in a photograph to be used commercially. When buying a stock image, you also may be able to contact the artist, and request slight changes or additions to the image that will fit your needs. For instance, the image could be a background for a label or company name, chosen for its good colors and design, and you can then ask your company name to be written in following the same design patterns.
Although stock 3D images don’t have nearly the sizeable collection of work that stock photography does, one can generally find a higher level of sophistication to the images. Also, graphic design may be catching up, as far as the quantity of work available to the commercial industry. Now that computers are so far advanced, as well as graphic design programs being so easily obtained, there are far more people producing 3D images than ever before.
But surely, expanding one’s scope to include stock 3D in their search for images intended for commercial use will only provide more comprehensive and higher quality results than only using photography.
